I'm thinking about using a peice of music from here in a film- would anyone know what rights I would still have to clear in order to release the film?

Information on US copyright laws can be found at http://copyright.gov/ - other countries have similar laws.

My gut feeling is that you are PROBABLY safe, but it doesn't hurt to check.......e.g. the KJV Bible is considered by many to be Public Domain in the U.S., but has restrictions in the U.K. which caught out the Gideons some years ago (this is just an example....)

If I remeber 60 or 70 years after a music published there isn't any right to pay on a music. In the same way of the patents...

Look at all the claccisal music : the rights are open to public. Nobody owns the rights of Mozart for example....

You ought to be ok for that but ast it to an autor right management society...

Good luck !
